Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania in 1984 with a Bachelors Degree in mathematics and a Masters Degree in education, Mr. Dormont spent a year in Israel and worked as a computer programmer and manager in New York City. Following his graduation from law school magna cum laude where he served on the Minnesota Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif, he clerked for two years with the Honorable Marvin Katz, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He then joined KCR where he has since worked on a variety of civil, bankruptcy and criminal litigation matters, including serving as co-counsel in trials which resulted in two of the ten largest verdicts reported in Pennsylvania in 2005.
Mr. Dormont is the author of Separate and Unequal: School District Financing, 11 Law Ineq. J. 261 (1992); and Note, For the Good of the Adult: An Examination of the Constitutionality of Using Prior Juvenile Adjudications to Enhance Adult Sentences, 75 Minn. L. Rev. 1769 (1991). He serves as an executive board member and is a former Vice President of American ORT, and was presented with the President's Award by ORT in 2003. Mr. Dormont is admitted to practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, the United States District Courts for both the Eastern and Middle Districts of Pennsylvania, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the District of Columbia and the State of Minnesota.
